Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone out here with a bit of artistic flair or, who knows what they are doing lol would recommend the best software // method to resizing pictures?

Specifically - reducing them in file size, like 10kb (what the best method would be and how to stop it looking poor) !

Cheers!

Any one else think this was some penis related spam from the thread title?
'Make her all night with all new resize penis NOW!'

Oh yeah, and I have nothing helpful to say regarding image resizing.

That is all.

Firstly what File type is it now? And how was the image created?

Here are some Useful ways of doing this:

Photoshop is good for this, if you have it. Its got a god resizing algorithm built in. And its also prety simple to do. Also Photoshop Has plenty of Simple Tutorials that can help.

If Photoshop is not an option. I think Gimp also has prety good software for this although it is designed for linux; I think there are some Beta windows installers. Havent actually used this much though.

Ok this could reduce quality a lil bit but depending on the image it might work. click here

Shrinking the image using the photoshop tutorial there is probably your best case scenario. id your still having problems, when I get photoshop off of Indig0 I can do it for you.

I Hope you enjoyed my Assistance ;)

Hey, what do you know, I do have something useful to say on the subject.

I use GIMP, it works fine on linux and windows, no problems installing. The base package at
http://gimp-win.sour...net/stable.html
should include glib etc so should work fine out of the 'box'.

The image resize is fine, never really compared it to photoshop but I don't have any complaints with it. You've seen my pro TF2 sprays right? ;)
I GIMPed all over those.

GIMP has picked up a lot just recently. I think if there's anything excessive that you need to do then Photoshop may still be in the lead, but for general use GIMP is definately a strong competitor now.

it is good but it doesnt have as much of the advanced functionality as photoshop. Its still kinda the wannabe. its still got that Image of being the step that goes between ms-paint and photoshop; even if it is much more advanced now. Also its only really used because its open source on linux and therefore a brilliant alternative. However, overall it still doesnt seem the compete with photoshop.

I Will Say this though: Its a fantastic bit of free kit and a Very Convincing 'copy' of Photoshop.
similar tools, similar useage, similar layout. I mean I been using it 5 mins now and I'm comfortable. Surely that makes it a good program.

There's nothing I've ever needed to do with Photoshop that I can't do with GIMP, and I do a lot of graphic work. In fact thanks to script-fu plugins you can probably do a lot of things with GIMP that you can't with Photoshop. You can even open .psd files in GIMP.

Oh, one thing GIMP does lack is nested layers.

Photoshop just feels more bloated and unintuitive to me; most likely because I've used GIMP since like 1999 so I'm more used to it.

Ah I see. Well I've just written a first impressions review, saying exactly the same thing about gimp. lol. Bloated an un-intuitive is something that came to mind. Not because the Program is Necessarily bad, it isn't. I think its because of the new teretory.

I only reviewed the useage of the main GUI though and don't have the experience to go into advanced usage. I can see myself using it a fair bit though. What are the plugins for? or too many to list? also where do you get them?

Yeah there's hundreds of plugins.

A nice thing GIMP has by default is the logo generator. I use it to make nice looking text - e.g. the DkR tag logo or the Dark Reavers text on the banner. Just make an new image, type some text in whatever font then go to Filters -> Alpha to Logo and pick one of the effects. There's all sorts and you can download more.
