How is communism flawed? Assuming we're talking about "perfect" communism (which could never happen - but that's another story). I honestly can't think of any downsides.

Speaking as a former communist, it is an unspeakably evil and completely unworkable system.

well like you said, 'perfect' communism will never work. all humans are ultimately selfish. there will always be someone who attempts to gain power and a better life than others.

anyway, even if is could work, it is flawed. why should someone who has a physical, unskilled job earn the same, and have the same living conditions as someone who is highly skilled, highly educated and has a job that is vital to running the country?

and yeah, didn't see that post. maybe we should leave this one for now

I agree. All countries that have tried to go communist have failed. Ultimately, they have ended up with a dictatorship. "Perfect" communism is just a myth.

Yes, but the thing most people miss is that communism is necessarily a dictatorship. Non-dictatorial communism is a contradiction in terms because communism means a 100% planned economy - which means someone is planning it (whether it's a committee, a single dictator, the workers, or the majority doesn't matter). A purely voluntary system of communism would in fact be capitalism - because capitalism is defined as a system of purely voluntary interaction.

Well, yes, but the "perfect" communism would not be as much of a dictatorship as normal communism. Still, it's not as good as capitalism.

I joined the clan to find a good group of organized people to have fun in a game with, and I'm happy that i seem to have found a great one!. So I personally feel it's best to stay of of debating politics here, at least until I get to know you better, as many people (including me) tend to get very passionate about the subject. For the record though I'd describe myself as an anarcho-communist.

Well, debates like this can go either way. On the one hand there was Placidarm, who is still the only member ever to be kicked out of [DkR] (not including inactive members) -- see the other Communism vs Capitalism thread for that -- and then on the other hand there's ReaverMage, with whom I've had some fairly extensive debates and who has since been promoted to WvW Officer.

But yeah, probably best getting to know someone before launching into a political debate.

It's a perfectly harmless debate. Unless there's people here who have strong views, in which case, just tell me and I will stop.

By the way, I just read some of the debates... This debate is not going to be anything like that. I just thought I'd start it to see what the different people of this community believe, not to have an argument and try to change other people's opinions.

Reading through the debate, everything everyone has said is perfectly harmless, and it's not like any of these things will ever be put into practice by us, it's more of a hypothetical debate, so just enjoy it!

I personally don't think either philosophy is perfect, but Capitalism is perfectly usable (though flawed) until we find the perfect system for humans to utilise. I do wish that we, in the UK would give more of the public services back to the government. I feel like the trains and buses would run much better if state run rather than privately run. And just look at the NHS, we have one of the best health care systems in the world, state run, much better than anything the privately owned US system has been able to produce.

I may be getting a bit off track with the initial idea for this thread, but just my 2 cents.

Yeah but this is what happened last time:

You don't like democracy because your a cunt, effectively. Your whole ideology is bullshit, just the dreams of spolit wankers like yourself who've read a bit of Friedman, and seen it as true because daddy's paid for you to ge tthrough life, and you've personally never needed state healthcare, because you're so fucking rich. I suggest you get a job and look at the real world. Your ideolgoy is baseless, relies on distorted history and post-hoc justificaitons and is not worth arguing against, because you just make sweeping bullshit statements which go agaisn thte facts and history and act as if its true.

Get off your ocmputer and into the real world, you spoilt rich cunts. I'm done here, ciao.
