Hello.

Just recently, I've worked on building my home studio, and have a Nektar Panorama P6, and recently my first ADAM A77X (Speaker A) has arrived. Waiting to get my MOT out of the way next month and should be able to afford the B speaker.  I've used Reason for ... 7 or 8 years? So I'm thinking about developing some cool stuff with 9.5, and I've never really attempted game music before. Could be pretty interesting.

I'm a massive fan of game music! As I'm sure many of us are, and just wondered that there were probably songs I hadn't heard before. My music teacher always told me to listen to lots of different types of music, so I'm just wondering what you think were the best soundtracks. Especially those that are sometimes in the game, legendary boss fights, hinterland grinding, secret bonus caves etc..  They are usually the ones know one ever heard of outside of the intro music, that is the best to listen to, and maybe you could share and explain why you liked it so much!? Maybe it fits the mood of the game or expresses the size of the area, or just gets you super hyped.

I also like to read up on the composers of the music, sometimes they have uploaded cool ways of making sounds you wouldn't expect would make great sound effects! Like squelching a wet flannel, of creating the effect of someone being slashed of stabbed by a sword, along with ridiculous screaming... xD But what a brilliant idea!

I have a few in mind already, but I'll throw into the comments later... I just wanted to hear what you thought of.

Hype mainly or rather than hype gets me pumped up.. most notable songs i remember that had that effect from game music would be mainly from franchises of Assassins Creed, Mass Effect, Doom, Crysis.

Been so long that i can't recollect the areas the music was for most likely boss fights, chases or game trailer music.

Here are some examples, have fun.

for Doom(2016) by Mick Gordon

the Doom Main Menu Music

and I AM VEGA are the most notable compositions i remember atm

for Crysis ~Hans Zimmer

Crysis 2 the Main Theme

the Piano and Violin parts in some of the Crysis songs has really hit home with me.

for Assassins Creed ~  Jesper Kyd, Brian Tyler

Assassins Creed II~Jesper Kyd

--Ezios Family

--Earth

Assassins Creed IV~Brian Tyler

--Black Flag Main Theme

--Horizon

--The High Seas

Mostly i truly felt that the pieces has always fit the era of which the game at the time presented and the theme of the era in particular of the game

Mass Effect~ Jack Wall, Sam Hulick, David Kates & Jimmy Hinson

Mass Effect

--Vigil

--Noveria

Mass Effect II

--Suicide Mission

--Normandy Reborn

--Reflections

Mysterious, Grand and Sci-Fi, in particular the ME2 conveyed the aftermath of the scenes very deeply.

https://soundcloud.com has some good collections.

I loved all the Music from Age of Conan I think the composer won some awards for it. I have it all on CD its pretty dam awesome. Think powerful classical score but also culturally themed.

Composer Knut Avenstroup Haugen

Nice Choir! In the Conan track. They use a Mordor sounding, I think it's a bassoon and strings? I have a patch like it somewhere. Awesome! Some of my favourites came from Age of Mythology, less Lord of the Rings style. There are some really nice tracks here. Thanks! I'll have a listen to them!

I only played Mass Effect and Assasins Creed! Will have to refresh on those ones again! That's it, I like music that can layout and set the scene dramatically, it's really clever. Particularly in those games in and out of combat.  I have to check out these others! Thanks Cross!

I like the stuff from Jeremy Soule. Particularly the things he did for Guild Wars & GW: Factions. I don't particularly like him as a person, he's been known to compare music piracy to the holocaust.

Yeah right! I haven't heard a lot of it, or have I? I was in WvW all the time, so you'd think I probably missed a lot of artwork and music due to that. Tempted to buy this for my Mum actually. It's her 60th birthday in a few days, and she'd love this. She loves guild wars!
