So for starters am still running with my 5 year old GPU XFX 7970 black edition double dissipation.

And recently i've been getting some overheating issues. which is cause by one of the dual fans, fan bearings it malfunctioned and hardly spins now for one of the two fans..

I am in the process of saving up money for a new RiG however i cannot commit yet to purchasing a new card since i've not finalized my build(Kabi-lake, 1080 gtx ti, i7 7700k cpu, ROG Strix MoBo etc.) since i have not came to a conclusion on m/b or cpu just yet i wont commit to the gpu.

anyway back to the problem at hand.

until i can get a new gpu or can commit to one i want to repair my current gpu so it will last me until i get a new rig...

which means i need a new dual fan to replace the current ones, or an aftermarket cooler..

and here's my problem i can't for the life of me figure out the fan specs to search for replacements(i've seen there are many types of dual fans online for such situations but since i don't know what i needs am stuck.)

or an aftermarket cooler preferably a decent cheap one, however since i recently...literally 1-2 hours ago have just fully reapplied new thermal pads/thermal paste and arctic cleaned my gpu.. i really don't want to go through that process again xD for an aftermarket cooler, since just replacing the dual fans seem simple and does not require full disassembly of the gpu from what i have checked and seen.

tried a support ticket at the xfx website see what they can do also(no warranty just looking if they can give me the information i need or can ship me a replacement dual fan so i can fix my gpu)

soo am looking for a solution to my problem. Help?

[UPDATE - 25 August 2017]

Re-opened up my case and digged up the serial for my fans will have another looksie tomorrow see what i can find from that and update again,

[UPDATE 2 - 26 August 2017]

So took it apart once again, poped open the malfunctioning fan and cleaned it greased it with engine grease, its spinning somewhat more efficiently i'd guess around 70% theres still resistance when u spin it but its smoother now...

I've also had a look for the above model i noted down yesterday there have been quite a few results....only issue is that shipping costs more than the actual item :| putting me at 30+ euro just to get it and it would take a good 2-3 weeks to arive...

if it's going to be that expensive may as well try looking for an aftermarket cooler...thoughts?

[UPDATE 3 - 27 August 2017]

So...back again, i've decided to go for the fans for now...i tried to look for a way to start working my way for building my new rig via getting a watercooling solution and a new chasis that i could tranfer to my new rig later so that i could go with the idea that the money i spend now it would benefit my future rig as well...however compatability issues between my current gpu/cpu make it somewhat impossible to go for the components i want, hence fans now...hope they work...get a new parts when i can get most of them and decide to either go Threadripper Zen or Kabi Strix build.

[EDIT]

At the moment considering all the above am thinking of trying for a Water cooling gpu solution that i can also use for my future card(sort of also test it with the current one)...

No idea where to start from though....anyone has any experience to point me at the right directions?

[EDIT 2 - 27 August 2017 ]

As of today waiting for a dimension confirmation on fans and ordering them...expecting them to arive within a month...would be nice if my gpu does not fry until then.

Might seem like an obvious one (forgive me if you did already), but have you Googled "replacement fans for XFX <ExactModelName>"? Searching for that with my Asus Strix GTX1070 model number gives a whole bunch of useful results, including videos on exactly how to replace them.

I wouldn't bother with the additional expense of an i7 over an i5 for gaming by the way, unless you have other very processor-intensive things to do. I "upgraded" to an i7 6700K with no noticeable difference at all. If money is not a factor then go for it, but the improvement-per-pound is negligible at best. Likewise with the motherboard IMO. The top end "gaming" motherboards are only really worth spending big money on if you intend to heavily overclock and push your system to it's absolute limits.

Aye i don't come up with replacements that way....unfortunately, i did find some other 7970 however those are a different model so i wouldnt know if they work.

As for the build, i do but i also want to keep myself future proof that's generally why i go for those things, for the cpu and mobo i havent decided this aint just a gaming rig but would be a design workstation as well. which is why am split about ryzen or not.
