First time making a costume for next years local comic con convension i've set my eyes on a design and character that i want to recreate and represent

this is for a stage performance and contest as well

So i wanna see who else likes to cosplay here, their experiences(if they want to share), and any tips and secrets/know hows when making their handmade costume

for the character am trying to present i've decided to go for the Warhammers universe Witchunter

Something based along the design of this

witch-hunter-warhammer-online.jpg

and back

WHunter_02.jpg

comprised from

Faux leather

Actual leather parts for some parts

EVA foam 3mm and thicker

Thermoplastic

primed with wood glue

painted with acrylic paint depending on the part

various other accessories(small bottles w/e i can find for elixirs or potion slots, handcrafted wood stakes, etc.)

etc.

Any shops that you have used before or brands that have quality products any of the above or, spray/paints..etc that comes to mind am welcome to all and any of it so that i can get some quality materials for this.

Any tools am should look into procuring or QoL stuff do let me know.

Gonna start slowly designing the blueprints on a smaller scale for now then make a list of what am going to need from the blueprints and start ordering the mats and slowly develop from there am looking for quality and detail more than anything else.

Any tips anything that people had issue with or stuff that i should look out for when starting on my costume would appreciate anything :) it's my first costume and going for a stage performance as well hopefully ill win something ;p but doing it for the experience above all xD

Also any tips for the on stage part that you peeps have done before or stuff that people would like, anything that comes to mind do give some info :D

got about a year to make it so i think i got plenty of time.

I've made an assassins creed costume before, and avatar, they weren't too bad, yet were awful in comparison to the effort some people have put in! Wicked choice this one, might not be too difficult to get right either. Was going to say there's loads of info on youtube about messing about with fabrics, prints, designs etc.

When is the comic con? Would be quiet fun to try and pull off that, especially on stage! I don't think I could do it.

Aye as i mentioned twill be next year around this time, so  i got about a year to work on it and create my own variation..

already have questions about this stuff lol...like how can i reduce the glossiness on the material under light, iirc i had some spray that reduces charcoal sketching charcoal glossiness somewhere wondering if that works. well too soon for that .

Tell me about it half of the peoples performances made me frown from embarrassment so thinking about me going on there freaks me out.

Still go the costume? have any pics if u wanna show?

Haha, yea. I did get a 'B' in drama! I could pull it off if I put in the practice, like anything.

Sadly those photos don't exist anymore, probably not worth sharing anyway in relation to what you're trying to achieve. I'm trying to think what I would go for if I were going to do something like this... I've always been quiet interested in it.
