Website & Forums Redesign

I spent a considerable amount of time over the weekend completely redesigning both the website and the forums, and I'm very happy with the result. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive which is always a good sign.

I thought the old design was far too boxy, and the three column layout meant that the main content was squashed in the middle. I've also eliminated some superflous elements such as the "members online" box which really didn't serve a purpose, as well as the latest match results and win/loss totals which were only relevant to the TF2/CS clans.

The member panel which used to sit at the top of the left sidebar is now in the main navigation (when logged in), and I've added a quick login in the top right corner (something requested by quite a few people).

The schedule page has been revamped, and each fixture box has been made smaller until you click the arrow for more information. Too much vertical space was used up by non-essential information before, and removing it has made… continue reading

Guild Wars 2 Recruitment Update #4

Since the last update we've had 27 new members join. So.. welcome to: Cr0ssfire, Tuskz, Asi, Consaii, Toglos, Xiomaro, Keefikus, ToXic, Suumpmolk, Doeke, Jobenson, Emmure, thoryyk, DeanAdamFry, Tarz, Jonesy, OptimalSteve, Sophmoronic, Apolon, Vetrie, gojou, Umrtvovacz, Ashqaz, Lewball98, Braeker, Vaz and Rabar69!

The amount of activity and interaction is great considering so many new people have been effectively thrown together, and it's already really starting to feel like a closely knit community. In fact it's weird to have listed some of the above members as "new recruits" as it seems like they've been in [DkR] for ages! On the flip-side, there are a handful of new members that we haven't heard from since they joined, so if you haven't posted on the forums or dropped into Mumble yet then please do so. We're getting to the point where we'll remove inactive members to make way for new applicants so we don't go over our self-imposed cap.

We have a new Mumble server. We want to build our community and get to know each other. The best way to do this is to play games together and just hang out on Mumble in the evenings.

What do I need?

The Rules
- You must connect to an appropriate mumble channel.
- You need to be a conversationally fluent English speaker.
- Your name in Mumble must match the name you use on the forums.
- Use push-to-talk unless you can guarantee a complete lack of unwanted noise when using another activation method.

Guild Wars 2 Recruitment Update #3

We've had a ton of new members join since my last post, so welcome to: Brewzr, elyan, Hellgaunt, Lordn00b, uri54321 (Riku), Abhorsen, Nvrdie, Dimez, J1Tah, Dagnir, Ace_Rimmer, metareal, years1hundred, Purdy, Maelis and Tsu.

That brings us up to 41 members, 43 if you include FaRRoW and KeniF, but they most likely won't be playing GW2 because FaRRoW has vanished (see forum thread) and Ken only wants to play CS. :)

I'm not really sure what the member limit should be. As I've mentioned on the forums and in previous news posts, I do not intend this to become an enormous guild of anonymous members - it's quality over quantity - but quality doesn't necessarily preclude a large guild.

Guild Wars 2 Recruitment Update #2

Ten members have been added to the roster since the last recruitment update.

Sketch and Sn1peTr1f (now Zog0t), who were important members of the clan during its TF2 days, have returned for Guild Wars 2. This actually means that all of the core members from the TF2 clan are making a comeback - quite the reuinion!

Also, welcome to Smiteras and chr, housemates of Dispatchio and myself.

Welcome to Ruthio, Dispatchio's fiancée, to Jennicat, DarkWinter's girlfriend, and to Aporia, Zog0t's girlfriend. Nice to have some new female additions to the clan!

We also have Skrark, a long-time friend of Reaper with whom I PvP'd in WoW with over the course of 2011.

Finally we have two completely new guys, Jycerian and Genmix. Welcome to you all. We're now at a healthy 25 members, but will continue to recruit as long as decent applications are being received.
